National – SASA and Scottish Swimming Magazines

The first Scottish aquatics magazine that has been found when compiling the Archive is “the Swimmer” in Spring of 1971. The inner front page introduction would strongly suggest that it is the first and if there was interest, it would be developed. Presumably it was popular, as it continued for several years to be followed by the “SwimScene, “Scottish Swimming”, “Swimming 2000” and finally “SplashNews”. Print finally gave way to the digital era and the magazines, in printed form, were no more after 2007.
